The DSA is to look at no longer publishing the question bank it uses for theory tests which means that they will probably change the current question bank. This in turn means that current books and CD ROM’s published to assist pupils with their theory test will not show the questions which you will be asked on your theory test. However they will still be useful for practice whilst you prepare for your test. With more that 1000 questions covered in most of these books and CD ROM’s the information which you will learn is still relevant.

Good news re my previous post. The OFT (Office of Fair Trading) is to investigate the websites I was talking about to see whether they are making clear that they are charging for a free service and whether such charges are fair. So remember book your own test for only the cost of the test (currently £31) at direct.gov

Booking your Theory Test

Over recent months I have spoken to more and more people who have been “ripped off” by websites offering to book your theory test or practical driving test for you .

Avoid these sites like the plague! They are a rip off. They will charge you something like £12-£18 in addition to the test fee for something which you can book yourself for free.

You can book your theory test by going to the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) at “direct.gov”. Go to my website for a direct link. Beware rip off’s!!

Parents have been warned by the Motot Insureres Bureau about the fraud known as “fronting”, whereby they list themselves on the offspring’s insurance policy as the main driver when this is not the case. It can lead to serious consequences.
